By-election 23 April 2009
Jimmy Macdonald died on 30th January 2009. A by-election to elect another councillor was held on Thursday 23rd April 2009.

The successful candidate was Alasdair Christie, Liberal Democrat Focus Team.

Election 3 May 2007

Cllrs Ron Lyon, Alasdair Milne and Jack Shiels stood down in 2007 and did not seek re-election.

Cllr Bill Smith, who had been Provost of Inverness since 1999, contested the new Inverness Central ward and regrettably failed to be re-elected.

Jimmy Macdonald had served as councillor for Scorguie from 1986 to 1999 and 2003 to 2007. He contested the new Inverness West Ward in May 2007 and was successfully re-elected as one of three councillors for that ward.

Inverness West (Ward 14) comprises Scorguie, Kinmylies, Muirtown and Ballifeary areas of Inverness together with landward areas of Dunain and Leachkin. It covers an area of 14 sq km (5.4 square miles). The ward comprises parts of the following pre-2007 single-member wards:
